Understanding their role and how to navigate that system can be a daunting task. \u2018Finding Your Voice\u2019 looks to increase individuals\u2019 understanding of themselves and their interactions with the mental health system to facilitate better outcomes. Attendees will learn how to become experts on themselves, set realistic expectations for treatment, and work collaboratively with others on their recovery. There will also be an opportunity to understand how traditional and innovative mental health services in Tompkins County have brought the consumer\u2019s voice back into focus.<\/p>\n<p>The conference is FREE, open to the public, and features a keynote by Dr. Ednita Wright, Ph.D., LCSW, CASAC, multiple concurrent sessions, a book talk, and more! Dr. Wright has worked at a variety of institutions, within the Central New York area, both private and public.\u00a0 She has written on topics of addiction, HIV\/AIDS and cultural diversity.\u00a0 Dr. Wright is currently interested in the subtleties within policies and cultural norms that perpetuate racism and other bias in academic and other institutional environments.\u00a0 She has consulted for over twenty years with community agencies and academic institutions regarding issues of diversity with the primary objective of moving away from tolerance to authentic inclusion.
