background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;||0px|||&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday, December 3<\/p>\n<p>11:00 &#8211; 12:00<\/p>\n<p>Finger Lakes Independence Center<\/p>\n<p>215 Fifth Street, Ithaca, NY<\/p>\n<h3><strong>ABLE Accounts<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Representatives from the Office of the New York State Comptroller will provide an information session on the New York Achieving a Better Life Experience (NY ABLE) Program.\u00a0 NY ABLE allows New Yorkers with disabilities and their families to save money in tax-advantaged accounts without impacting eligibility for federal benefit programs like SSI and Medicaid.\u00a0 NY ABLE features include the following:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Earnings can grow tax-deferred, maximizing returns, and can be withdrawn tax-free if used for qualified disability expenses<\/li>\n<li>Qualified disability expenses include expenses incurred as a result of living with a disability that are intended to improve the quality of life<\/li>\n<li>Balances under $100,000 are excluded from SSI resource limits<\/li>\n<li>Medicaid eligibility is maintained, regardless of account balance<\/li>\n<li>An account can be opened with as little as $25, or only $15 if using payroll deduction<\/li>\n<li>Contributions and withdrawals can be made in many different ways, providing easy access to savings\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The presentation will also cover NY ABLE eligibility requirements, annual and aggregate account contributions limits, highlights of the investments options, and more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Registration in advance is appreciated:<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243;
